Help and common questions

A few things people often want to know before and after they take The Mirror Test. If your question is not here, you are always welcome to reach out.

Getting Started

Choosing between Core and Faith

The Mirror Test offers two versions, Core and Faith. The Core version uses accessible psychological language around identity, emotion, belonging, and growth, without any faith assumptions. The Faith version is written specifically for believers whose relationship with God shapes how they survive, perform, hide, and heal.

Both tracks come in the same two lengths, a free 20-question version and a full 60-question version, and measure the same patterns. The Faith track carries those patterns through a Christian lens, with its own names for each one. Neither track is the default or the 'lite' one. Choose the language that's actually yours, and you're welcome to take the other later too.

After Your Results

What your results mean

Your Mirror Test results name the identity patterns that are most active in your life right now. These are not character flaws or diagnoses. They are survival strategies you learned in response to pain, fear, loss, or unmet needs.

Your results show you what you have been carrying, often without realizing it, and give you language for experiences that may have felt confusing or unnamed. Use them as a starting point for reflection, journaling, prayer, therapy, coaching, or honest conversation. Growth is personal, layered, and nonlinear. Be gentle with yourself as you begin this work.

Understanding Patterns

What shame is, and what it is not

Shame is one of the most common patterns The Mirror Test surfaces. It is the quiet, persistent belief that something about you is fundamentally broken, unacceptable, or unworthy.

Shame is not guilt. Guilt says 'I did something wrong.' Shame says 'I am something wrong.' People carrying shame often hide parts of themselves, avoid being seen, and struggle to receive love without suspicion. Naming it is the first step toward meeting it with compassion and truth.
