Honesty, not hype

How the Mirror Test is built, and how we check ourselves

Most online quizzes will not tell you how they work, because the answer is usually "we made it up." We will tell you exactly how this one works, what it can do, and what it cannot. If a tool is going to reflect something this tender back to you, you deserve to know what is behind the glass.

What it actually measures

The Mirror Test reads for 13 identity patterns, the survival strategies people learn to carry, like shame, control, performance, people-pleasing, and avoidance. It does not measure your personality type, your intelligence, your faith, or your worth. It reflects the patterns that tend to run when life feels unsafe.

Why it asks the way it asks

Every question is forced-choice on purpose. We are not after the answer you would give on a calm, considered day. We are after your first reflex, the move you make under a little pressure, before you edit it for the room. That reflex is where the pattern lives. It is why some questions feel slightly uncomfortable. That discomfort is the point.

How we score it

Each answer you choose maps to one internal pattern. We tally them and surface your top two as your Mirror Pair. There is no hidden weighting and no secret agenda. The option order is shuffled for everyone, so position cannot bias the result.

How we check ourselves (the part no one else does)

Validity flags. The result can quietly notice when answers look idealized, guarded, or tender, and it tempers what it tells you accordingly. We would rather under-claim than flatter you.

Your feedback is data. You can flag any question that does not fit, and tell us how close your result landed. When enough people flag the same question, we revise it. We have already done this.

Validation, in the open. This instrument has not been validated yet. A reliability and validity study is planned with a university partner, and we will run it in the open and publish what we find, including what we get wrong. Until then, treat your result as a reflection worth testing against your own life, not as a measurement.

What it is not

It is not therapy, diagnosis, or clinical assessment. It is not a verdict on your faith or your character. If you are in crisis, please reach out to a professional or call or text 988.

Our promise: 30 days, any reason, no questions asked, and you keep your result. We used to tie the refund to whether your result felt honest. We changed it, because a refund that depends on a result feeling right quietly pays us to write results vague enough to fit anyone, and that is the exact failure this instrument is built to avoid.

Questions people ask

Is the Mirror Test accurate?

It is a reflective instrument, not a clinical one, so it does not claim diagnostic accuracy. It has not been formally validated, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What it has today is honest engineering: validity flags that tell you when your answers looked polished, a way to flag any question that did not fit you, and scoring that shows its work. A reliability and validity study is planned with a university partner. When it runs, we will publish what we find, including what we get wrong.

Is the Mirror Test legit, or just another quiz?

Most quizzes will not tell you how they work. This page does. The test reads for 13 defined identity patterns, uses forced-choice questions to catch your first reflex, and openly checks itself for idealized answering. That transparency is the difference.

Who made it?

It was built by Rhian Romain (Awakened Hearts LLC), with care for the person on the other side of the screen, not to extract a sale.

A mirror is only worth looking into if it tells the truth. We built this one to do exactly that, and to keep earning the right to.
