The Mirror Test · Comparison
Two different mirrors. One shows you how you love. The other shows you the pattern underneath all of it.
If you have taken an attachment style quiz and found it useful, but wanted something that went a layer deeper, this is for you. Here is an honest look at what attachment tests do well, where they stop, and how the Mirror Test is different. No spin, and no claim that one replaces the other.
What attachment tests do well
Attachment theory is real psychology, and a good attachment quiz can be genuinely clarifying. It gives you language for how you bond, anxious, avoidant, secure, or disorganized, and it explains a lot about why closeness feels the way it does for you. If it helped you understand your relationships, that was not an accident. It is a solid map of one important territory.
Where they tend to stop
Attachment style tells you how you bond. It says less about how you survive everywhere else: at work, in your faith, in how you hold your own worth, in what you do when something falls apart. It is one axis, closeness, and it often hands you a category to identify with rather than a pattern you can move through. Useful, but narrower than the whole of you.
There is also the honesty problem. Many attachment quizzes ask you to agree or disagree with statements, which makes it easy to answer as the person you hope to be. The deeper pattern hides behind the polished answer.

Questions people ask
Is the Mirror Test an attachment style test?
Not exactly. Attachment style is one lens, focused on how you bond. The Mirror Test reads 13 identity patterns across your whole life, relationships included, and names the one running underneath. If your style is anxious or avoidant, the Mirror Test will often show you the deeper pattern feeding it.
Which one is more accurate?
They measure different things, so it is not quite apples to apples. Attachment tests are well researched for relational bonding. The Mirror Test is broader and uses forced choice to catch your first reflex rather than your most polished answer. Many people find the two complementary.
Can I be securely attached and still have a Mirror?
Yes. Feeling secure in relationships does not mean there is no pattern anywhere. The Mirror Test looks at how you survive across work, worth, conflict, and faith, not just closeness. Most people carry at least one pattern, secure attachment or not.
Is the Mirror Test based on research?
It draws on established psychology, including attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and identity formation. It has not been independently validated yet; a reliability and validity study is planned. It is honest about being a reflective tool, not a clinical instrument.
